If you don’t pass a module, the exam board may give you another chance to pass, called a referral. You’ll need to take the assessment again, and you’ll get charged a fee.
Referral fees
You’ll get charged for each referral attempt:
- £100 for each referred exam or assessment.
- £50 for each referred coursework.
- There is a cap of £250 in fees for the referral or deferral period.
You won’t get charged more than this cap, even if you have several referrals.
Understanding referral attempts
A referral attempt happens when:
- you didn’t meet the pass mark for a module
- the exam board gives you another chance to pass
- you take the assessment again. This assessment gets capped at a pass mark.
All referral attempts are chargeable.
How to check your referral fees
- Check your results email. This will show which modules you didn’t pass and which assessments you need to take again.
- Check your charges. Make sure the fees match the number and type of referrals listed.
