Evidence-free extensions
If you need to extend a deadline for a coursework assignment by three days, you can do so in ELE2. View our video guide (YouTube) on how to extend the deadline for an assignment.
Evidence-free extension:

allows for an extra 72 hours (3 days) to complete an assignment
-
has no requirement to provide evidence or documents
-
can be used up to four times during the academic year (once per assessment)
-
can be added before, or up to 24 hours after a submission deadline
-
can’t be used for exams or short duration coursework/timed assessments
Evidence-based Mitigation
If you need an assessment extension of more than 72 hours, you need to apply for evidence-based Mitigation.
The process to apply for mitigation depends on your programme. If you are a student on the following programmes:

BMBS
-
CEDAR
-
Degree Apprenticeship
-
INTO
-
Fully online programme
You must complete the Mitigation application form and send it to your Hub/Info Point using the correct Mitigation email address. You have up to 24 hours after your assessment deadline to apply for Mitigation.
For all other students, you can apply for mitigation directly through the Student Record System (SRS).
You can apply for Mitigation:

up to four weeks before, or
-
up to 24 hours after your assessment deadline.
Applications more than 4 weeks before your assessment deadline will not be accepted.
